On Our Own

At this point in the trip Deborah and Bernie returned to California so Susannah and I continued on our own. After checking out of our hotel and seeing Deborah and Bernie off to the airport, we had some time to kill before we could check into our new hotel. Susannah was feeling a bit down so we decided to take a leisurely stroll in Shibuya, around the famous Tokyo crosswalk that shows up in all kinds of movies and TV shows. I took a picture while no one was crossing because I didn’t want to get in the way. Again, disregard the weird thing in the lower right, it’s a car that was driving past as I took the panorama, not some kind of futuristic Japanese robo-vehicle.IMG_0163No visit to Shibuya is complete without a visit to the Hachiko statue. Here he is clothed in a snug winter/new year’s outfit.IMG_0165The story of Hachiko is fairly adorable, you can read about it here if you like: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hachik%C5%8D
