Woodblock Printing Exhibition

While I was there, the museum was having an exhibition of the artist Hiroshige’s woodblock printing series “100 Famous Views of Edo.” He is probably the 2nd most accomplished woodblock artist (behind Hokusai). He was a huge influence on many French impressionists, including Monet and Van Gogh.

The exhibition had every single painting in the “100 Famous Views of Edo” series, so I took a bunch of pictures. Can you tell that I like Edo woodblock prints?

This is probably his most recognizable print to westerners “Sudden Shower over Shin-Ohashi Bridge”:IMG_0453
