First Meal of Parents’ Visit

My parents landed in the evening and it takes a little while to make it to the city center from the airport.

After getting lost in Shinjuku (the world’s busiest and largest travel hub), we made it to the hotel, and met up with Susannah.

Naturally, our first meal was ramen.

We went to a small-ish ramen bar called Menyashou, where the friendly, patient staff managed to seat all of us together even though the four of us took up about a third of the entire place.

If I remember correctly, Susannah and Dad got shio (salt) ramen, and Mom and I got shoyu (soy sauce) ramen.

This is the special shoyu, which includes some extra toppings:special chicken bone shoyu ramen, Menyashou.jpg

And the simpler, but no less tasty shio:shio ramen, Menyashou.jpg

The dried pimento strands and green mizuna leaves were a unique and interesting touch.
