Virtual Reality has made a resurgence in popularity recently. Except, unlike in the 90s it actually works fairly well. So, Susannah and I decided to try it out at a temporary exhibition that was being held in Odaiba.
There were a number of different tech demos we could try, many of which had fairly elaborate setups including physical joysticks, and chairs that actually move around to help simulate what you see in your visor.
Susannah tried out a skiing game, and I tried a giant robot combat game, as well as a Mobile Suit Gundam “VR Experience” that was mostly passive.
Susannah got motion-sick almost immediately so she only experienced the one game. I felt mostly ok, but afterwards experienced a bit of eye-strain. Overall, it was an interesting experience, but I think VR still has a way to go before it reaches mainstream success.
